Is this listing actually profitable? Enter one listing's real numbers to see its margin after Etsy's fees, and the price that hits your target.
Estimate only: assumes Etsy's standard 6.5% transaction fee plus 3% + $0.25 payment processing. Doesn't account for Offsite Ads, sales tax (a pass-through, not a real cost), or listing fees.
Every Etsy sale goes through a few separate fees before you see a penny, and for a print-on-demand seller they come on top of what Printify charges to make and ship the order. These are the US rates; Etsy's own fees page has the current numbers for your country.
| Fee | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Transaction fee | 6.5% of the sale, including the shipping you charge |
| Payment processing | 3% + $0.25 per order (US) |
| Listing fee | $0.20 per listing, renewed each time an item sells or every four months |
| Offsite Ads | 12% to 15% of the sale, only when the order came from one of Etsy's ads |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% if your listings aren't in your bank account's currency |
The calculator above includes the transaction and payment processing fees, which apply to every sale. The listing fee is per listing rather than per sale, and Offsite Ads only hit some orders, so leave yourself some headroom for both.
Take a t-shirt that Printify charges $11.50 to print and $4.75 to ship. Priced at $24.99 with $4.99 shipping:
Now offer free shipping and drop the price to $19.99 to look competitive. The buyer pays less, but Printify still charges you the same $16.25:
Same shirt, same costs, and the margin falls from 35% to 8%. To offer free shipping and still make 25%, that listing would need to be priced at $25.19. Free shipping works, but only when the price absorbs the shipping cost.
Many print-on-demand sellers aim for somewhere between 25% and 40% after all fees and production costs. Below about 25% there's little room left for Offsite Ads, a refund, or a Printify price change. KilnWorks uses 25% as its "needs attention" line, and you can set your own target above.
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the total the buyer pays, shipping included. That's why the calculator counts shipping charged as part of your revenue.
Each product in Printify shows its production cost per variant, and Printify lists shipping rates by destination. Larger sizes and some colors cost more to make, so check the most expensive variant you sell, not just the cheapest.
It's charged per listing rather than per sale, so its effect depends on how often each listing sells. For a listing that sells regularly, it's a few cents per order.
Two problems a single-listing calculator can't see: shipping profiles charging less than Printify charges you, and Etsy listings whose Printify product has been deleted.
This calculator checks one listing at a time with numbers you type in. KilnWorks does the same maths across every listing automatically, using your real Etsy fees and the actual Printify cost of every order.
KilnWorks audits every listing in your shop automatically, matched to your real Printify costs and Etsy fees.
